Lewis Hamilton took the first-ever Formula 1 pole position in Qatar for Mercedes in a dominant display in Saturday's qualifying session at the Losail International Circuit.
The seven-time champion had appeared to struggle in practice, but was quick out of the blocks in qualifying, topping both Q1 and Q2, before the final top ten shoot-out for pole.

Once again, he was on top form, nailing his first effort to sit on provisional pole, before going even faster on his final run to cement what is just his third pole position in 16 races. Go onboard with Hamilton to watch the key lap in the video player above.
