Considering he’d expected to spend his Sunday afternoon at the Nurburgring acting as a pundit for German television, you’d have forgiven him for uttering something a little stronger…

Hulkenberg was voted Driver of the Day, while his reaction makes it into our round-up of the best team radio from the Eifel Grand Prix, along with Max Verstappen and Christian Horner suggesting possible tattoos for Renault team boss Cyril Abiteboul – after Daniel Ricciardo took Renault’s first podium since their 2016 F1 return – Ricciardo’s own elated reaction to finishing P3, and of course Lewis Hamilton on the win that saw him draw level with Michael Schumacher on 91 victories.
