The Mexico City Grand Prix venue is the highest altitude circuit on the Formula 1 calendar, so technical experts Sam Collins and Craig Scarborough explain just how that will affect the cars and teams this weekend.
Lying more than 2,200 metres above sea level, Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez is very high. So much so, in fact, that the next-highest circuit on the calendar is Brazilian GP venue Interlagos – at 'just' 800m...
The air being thinner, this is a thoroughly unique challenge that demands ingenious aerodynamic and cooling solutions from the squads. There's much more to it than just opening up the bodywork, however, with teams wrestling to cool their brakes too.
