The 2026 Formula 1 season has seen sweeping new regulations implemented, and a new era of cars always means plenty of intriguing technical innovations.
Our tech expert Sam Collins has been looking into everything the teams have brought to the first three races, from Ferrari’s 'flip-flop' rear wing and impressive turbo – that has seen them get off the line arguably the quickest of any car – to Red Bull’s rear wing indents, that look small but could have a sizeable affect on downforce.
With ‘Active Aero’ featuring on this year's cars too, the teams have gone in dramatically different directions with front wing design. As such, there is plenty to discuss, with all eyes on Mercedes to see if their aerodynamic package matches up to the might of their engine.
