Max Verstappen took win #17 of the 2023 season at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, the Dutchman looking indomitable as he held off the challenge of McLaren’s Lando Norris.
It was a race of attrition at Interlagos, with a full six drivers retiring – namely George Russell, the Alfa Romeo pairing of Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu, the Haas of Kevin Magnussen, the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc and the Williams of Alex Albon.
The fans were also treated to a thrilling battle for the final podium-paying position, Sergio Perez sneaking past Fernando Alonso on Lap 70 of 71, only for Alonso to reclaim the spot on the very final tour.
