HIGHLIGHTS: Catch the action from FP3 in Montreal as Hamilton sets the pace

Lewis Hamilton topped the timesheets during the third and final practice session at the Canadian Grand Prix, the seven-time world champion leading the way by 0.374s from Max Verstappen.

With the session getting under way in dry conditions after mixed weather affected running on Friday, a queue of drivers were quick to hit the track. However, there was soon an interruption when Zhou Guanyu beached his Kick Sauber at Turn 2, prompting the red flags to be thrown.

FP3: Hamilton leads Verstappen and Russell during final practice in Canada

After a brief pause, the action resumed as teams embarked on a range of programmes prior to qualifying later in the day. It was ultimately Hamilton who went fastest with an effort of 1m 12.549s, a strong benchmark from the Mercedes driver that was unbeaten.

Verstappen was second for Red Bull, followed by the Mercedes of George Russell in third and Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll in fourth, while Oscar Piastri and Daniel Ricciardo rounded out the top six for McLaren and RB respectively.

There was late drama, meanwhile, for Alex Albon, who clipped the Wall of Champions and looked to have picked up damage to the right rear of his Williams, forcing him to limp back to the pit lane. Verstappen also had a similar moment, brushing the famous barrier but escaping unharmed.
