FORMULA 2: Zhou captures historic Silverstone pole

Guanyu Zhou made history in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, becoming the first ever Chinese racer to seal pole position in F1’s official feeder series. The Renault junior is the first rookie to take P1 in Qualifying this season and sealed a front-row lock-out for UNI-Virtuosi, with Luca Ghiotto netting second.
The duo had dominated the session, nestling into P1 and P2 inside of the first 10 minutes. From there they never wavered, surviving late attacks from DAMS duo Sergio Sette Camara and Nicholas Latifi, who were forced to settle for third and fourth.
Ghiotto made a late attempt on Zhou’s time and clearly had the pace to challenge, having gone quickest in Free Practice, but a wobble in the final sector curtailed his progress and he would have to settle for second behind Zhou, having lost valuable time.
The question now is can Zhou convert pole into victory?
