F2: Rodin sweep Baku Qualifying with Dunne on top in Q1 as Stenshorne takes pole in Q2

Rodin Motorsport could not have asked for a better start to their weekend in Baku as they swept both Qualifying sessions with two front-row lockouts.

In Qualifying 1, it was Alexander Dunne on top with a 1m 55.383s, as team mate Martinius Stenshorne got to within 0.033s as the team claimed a 1-2.

Campos Racing’s Noel León finished in third place ahead of ART Grand Prix driver Kush Maini and Invicta Racing’s Rafael Câmara.

PREMA Racing’s Mari Boya and Sebastián Montoya followed in sixth and seventh respectively, with Dino Beganovic completing a late lap to go up to P8.

TRIDENT’s Laurens van Hoepen was ninth ahead of championship leader Nikola Tsolov – who will start from reverse grid pole in Saturday’s Sprint Race.

In Qualifying 2, Stenshorne left it late to complete an eye-catching 1m 53.728 to beat Dunne to pole by 0.445s.

Câmara had been on provisional pole for much of the session but watched on from the pitlane as he was demoted to P3.

Boya was fourth ahead of Maini and León, with van Hoepen in seventh ahead of Tsolov. ART driver Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak ended up in ninth as Montoya rounded out the top 10.

The drivers have an early start on Saturday with the 21-lap Sprint Race set to start at 0815 local time. They will then return later in the day for Feature Race 1, which takes place at 1415 local time.
