F2: Fornaroli seals title with a round to spare as Martins wins in Qatar

Leonardo Fornaroli sealed the 2025 Formula 2 title, matching the likes of Oscar Piastri and Gabriel Bortoleto in becoming a back-to-back Formula 3 and Formula 2 champion.

LUSAIL CITY, QATAR - NOVEMBER 30: 2025 F2 Champion Leonardo Fornaroli of Italy and Invicta Racing

Victor Martins put in a superb performance to win this weekend’s Feature Race in Qatar, leading home Leonardo Fornaroli in second place, a result that saw the Italian become the 2025 Formula 2 Champion.

Fornaroli started from pole but a slow getaway allowed Martins to take the lead heading into Turn 1, an advantage the ART Grand Prix driver would not relinquish.

The Williams Driver Academy member did not have it all his own way though, as he was forced to hold off Fornaroli’s charge in the closing stages. However, Martins did just enough to take a first win of the season.

With results going in his favour, Fornaroli’s second place saw the Invicta Racing driver follow in the footsteps of Oscar Piastri and Gabriel Bortoleto by becoming a back-to-back Formula 3 and Formula 2 champion.

Rodin Motorsport’s Alexander Dunne finished in third, beating Campos Racing’s Arvid Lindblad to the final spot on the podium.

Sebastián Montoya was fifth for PREMA Racing, ahead of MP Motorsport’s Richard Verschoor and Campos debutant Nikola Tsolov.

Roman Stanek was eighth for Invicta, ahead of the charging Hitech TGR pairing of Dino Beganovic and Luke Browning in ninth and 10th respectively.

That takes us to Abu Dhabi for the final round and while the Drivers’ Championship has been decided, the battle for the Teams’ title between Invicta Racing, Hitech TGR and Campos Racing looks set to go down to the wire.
