87 laps? 54s lap times? Why it’s time to get excited about the Sakhir GP track
The Outer Track of the Bahrain International Circuit set to be used in this weekend’s Sakhir Grand Prix will create a spectacle unlike any other witnessed in Formula 1 history.
Standing at 3.5km – just 0.2km more than Monaco – but made up of three flat-out straights joined together by a section of sweeping corners, simulations have predicted lap times in qualifying of around 54 seconds, while because of the track’s short length, the race will run to a full 87 laps.
Get up to speed with the layout of the Outer Track in the videos above and below, as we prepare for a weekend to remember in Bahrain.
